We
are grateful you have a desire to serve here at the Visalia Rescue
Mission. In order to make things as fruitful and trouble-free
for you as possible, we have come up with the following guidelines.
1.
Be consistent. You are part of the “Visalia Rescue
Mission Team.” The
position you fill is vitally important to the overall operation of
the Mission. Your
faithful commitment means we can count on you to accomplish the
specific tasks we set aside for you.
Please call if you are unable to show up or are going to be
late.
2.
Contribute to the overall mission of the Mission.
We are here to provide Hope and Restoration through Jesus
Christ. We work
together to achieve this.
3.
Christian character. Please conduct yourself according to the calling you received
from God. Be consistent
with Biblical, moral standards.
4.
Use wisdom. We
want our volunteers to feel free to get to know the people here and
take the opportunity to strike up conservations with the residents.
However, we ask our volunteers to use caution as there are
many people who are persuasive in their ability use people to get
whatever they want. Here
are a few specifics:
a.
Do not give rides to anyone outside of your responsibilities
here.
b.
Do not give or lend money to the Guests or Residents!
c.
Do not trade, sell or buy anything from the Guests or
Residents.
d.
Do get clearance from the Program Coordinator before inviting
a Guest or Resident to your home or to any outside function.
e.
Do report any inappropriate behavior or anything that makes
you feel uncomfortable here.
f.
Do not give out any information about our Residents.
We are considered a “sanctuary”, therefore, covered by
confidentiality laws.
g.
Do not become emotionally or romantically involved with the
residents or staff.
