One Step At A Time
The Rescue Missions STEP
(Spiritual Training and Educational Program) is a nine-month residential
discipleship program for men and women.
REFUGE (Step 1)
Residents become familiar with their new
safe surroundings and begin to apply structure to their lives. For
many, this 30-day phase is a time for detoxing from chemical addiction.
DISCIPLESHIP TRAINING AND EDUCATION (Step
2)
This
is the spiritual dimension of the recovery program. The discipleship
training and education focuses on every aspect of a persons
life. Residents learn how to deal with real life issues without
returning to their former unhealthy dependencies. They grow in Christian
character through recovery classes, meetings and Bible studies.
They grow in intellect through education with an opportunity to
earn their high school equivalency and/or learn viable job skills
at the Mission Learning Center.
RE-ENTRY (Step 3)
Residents re-enter the community as they
search for full-time employment. The Mission utilizes numerous community
resources in finding jobs for people. After finding work, residents
progress through the recover process learning how to budget
their finances, pay bills and save for a home of their own.
AFTERCARE (Step 4)
This final phase of the program lasts six
months. Rescue Mission alumni live off-site, but attend counseling
sessions, alumni and chapel services at the mission on a regular
basis. Some become mentors and sponsors for the new residents while
others volunteer at the mission and in the community.
